I’m growing several varieties of dragon fruit in my Vego Rolling Dragon Fruit Planter, and tonight one of my plants decided to bloom! 🌸🐉

The varieties blooming in this planter are Dark Star and Purple Haze. Both are self-sterile, meaning they need pollen from a different dragon fruit variety to successfully cross-pollinate and set fruit.

Since I didn’t have another variety blooming tonight, I pulled out this little keyboard vacuum to collect the pollen from the flowers. I can then store the pollen in the refrigerator and use it later to cross-pollinate another dragon fruit variety when the timing is right.

It’s a pretty unconventional way to collect pollen, but it works! 🌱
