I garden along the Texas Gulf Coast, where heat, humidity, storms, and long growing seasons shape everything we grow. Instead of fighting those conditions, I focus on working with them. That means choosing the right fruit trees for containers, experimenting with vegetable varieties that handle the climate, and pushing the limits of what you can grow in a suburban or small-space setup.
You’ll find a strong focus here on fruit trees grown in containers and raised beds. Citrus, figs, stone fruits, and other productive trees can thrive in much smaller spaces than most people think when they’re managed correctly. Alongside that, I grow a wide variety of vegetables and a particular favorite of mine, hot peppers. From mild to extremely hot, peppers are one of the most rewarding crops to grow in this climate.
I also spent four years as a Master Gardener, where I gained a solid foundation in plant science, horticulture practices, and teaching others how to garden. I eventually stepped away from the program because of the ongoing time commitments, including volunteer hours and continuing education. I wanted that time back for my own garden and for creating content through my YouTube channel and Instagram, where I share what I’m learning in real time.
Third Coast Gardening is built on experience, experimentation, and honest results. Some things work great, some things fail, and everything becomes a lesson for the next season. That’s what I share here.
